Cosas practicas vivir London: Coche

Hoy os traigo un post de cosas prácticas de vivir en Londres. Eso que no te cuentan y te vas dando cuenta con el tiempo.

Todo depende a lo que estés acostumbrada en tu ciudad, nosotros en Madrid siempre tuvimos coche y aunque no lo usáramos todos los días, es mas cómodo tenerlo. Pues lo mismo pasa aquí. Es verdad que depende mucho de donde vivas, nosotros tenemos la suerte de vivir en una zona que se puede aparcar y que el "barrio" es muy amplio. Pero desde que llegamos a Londres estábamos echando de menos el coche, no para el día a día, pero si para hacer cosas con las niñas, moverte con estas distancias con 2 niñas pequeñas es todo un reto. Así que creo que nos va a hacer la vida más cómoda y que vamos a hacer un montón de excursiones, nuestro radio de acción de los fines de semana se ha ampliado.

As everything, it depends if you are used to have a car or not. In our case we always had a car in Madrid, not for all days but it is more comfortable if you have it. Here in London it's the same. It is true that depends a lot where you live, we are living in a neighborhood where is easy to park and our borough is huge. But since we arrived to London we missed a lot the car, not to use all days but to do things in the weekends. Move with two kids in this city is not very easy because the distances are huge. So I am sure that it will be more easy to move to visit other areas. Now we can go more far away.

Ahora nos tenemos que acostumbrar a conducir con el volante al otro lado y a ir siempre por la izquierda, es más fácil de lo que parece.

Now we need to get used to drive with the steering on the other side and to go always on the left side, it is easier than you can imagine. 

Eso si, a parte de conseguir el coche, es verdad que:
* Los seguros son caros, necesitas probar que no has tenido ningún accidente en Uk en los últimos 2 años para que te lo bajen
* Permiso de aparcamiento, se hace en cada ayuntamiento, te lo sacas en el momento y el precio depende del coche.
* Permiso de circulación, es una pegatina que llevan todos los coches, también depende de lo que contamine tu coche.
*ITV, para coches con mas de 3 años, es un trámite fácil, te lo pasan en los mismos talleres
* Congestion Charge, es un impuesto que pagas cada vez que quieras entrar en el centro de Londres. Como tienen cámaras te hacen la foto al coche y lo pagas por internet, son como 8 pounds al día. Mejor evitarlo...

To have the car you need administrative papers:

* Insurances are expensive. You need to prove your "claim of proof", it is a proof that you haven't had a claim in the car in the last 2 years driving in the Uk or Ireland. Without it you don't get a discount and makes it expensive or age.
* Parking permit, it depends of the borough. You can get it in the moment and the amount depends on the car and how much it pollutes .
* Road tax is a sticker that all the cars have, it's a tax that depends on how your car pollutes 
* MOT for the cars with more than 3 years, it is easy as you can get it some garages.
* Congestion charge, it's the tax you have pay when you drive inside the city centre. They have cameras which take a picture and you pay in a web page. 8 pounds per day. Better to avoid it....
