Calendario de Adviento DIY casitas de tela

Ya estamos en modo Navidad on.
We are with Christmas mode.

Nada como empezar con nuestro calendario de adviento. El año pasado hicimos uno muy sencillo que dio mucho juego, aquí todos los detalles.
To begin the decorations, we start first with the advent calendar. Last year we did something simple but very funny for the girls, you can see it here. 

Este año, que estoy lanzada con mi tricotosa, me lancé a Pinterest y después de ver calendarios maravillosos nos decidimos a hacer este:
This year I am sewing so after doing some research in Pinterest and see incredible ones, I have decided to do this one:

No se a tí, pero a mi me encanta!! Además me encanta la idea de poder usarlo durante varios años y seguro que le encontramos alguna utilidad más.
I don't know you, but I love it!! And I am very happy with the idea to use it again in the following years.

Tutorial /How to do it:
Necesitas /You need it:

Tela de rapillería no muy gorda, pero con suficiente cuerpo para que se quede un poco tiesa la casita. Busca todos los retales de telas que tengas, hasta el mas pequeño te puede servir.
Un cordon gordito (este es de Ikea para envolver regalos)
Pinzas con los días para el calendario

You need to buy scaling fabric, not very thick but with body to do the house. 
Find all the fabric you have at home.
Cord to hook the houses (this is an Ikea one)
Small clothespins bought in Tiger.

Hacemos los patrones en papel, no tiene que ser exacto, hicimos 3 modelos mas o menos 25cm* 14cm para el cuerpo de la casa, piensa que luego lo doblas como un sobre para poder meter el regalito dentro
We did the patrons in paper, we did 3 models, more or less about 25 cm *14 cm to do the house with the roof. Then you need to fold it to do like an envelope to put the present inside.

Los tejados los coses los derechos enfrentados para que luego les des la vuelta y queden bonitos.
The roofs, sew it the face side in front of the other one to turn over and don't see the stitches.

Luego con los retales que tengas por casa, empiezas a pintar las ventanas y las puertas, pones con alfileres y directo a la máquina. Como son muchos, al final los pasé todos seguidos, no se ven los hilos y es mas rápido.
After with all the remnant fabric you have to draw the windows and doors. Pin it and directly to the sew machine.

Luego doblas la casita, con las ventanas por dentro, lo giras y te queda como un sobrecito para poder meter el regalo dentro.
Then you fold the house with the windows inside and turn over it and you get like an envelope.

Yo los he colocado todos a lo largo con un cordel gordito de navidad enganchado con unas pinzas pequeñitas de Tiger.
I put all in a cord hooked with small clothespins bought in Tiger.

Ahora faltan los regalillos, este año va a ir lleno de mensajes y super poderes inspirada por SoSunny, siempre con buenas ideas para las manualidades.
Now I need to put inside the presents, this year I want to put a lot of messages and "super powers" inspired by So sunny, always with nice ideas for crafts.

DIY mejor regalo para una amiga / DIY easy present for your friend

Como os conté la semana pasada, hemos estado en París visitando varios amigos (Versailles, Paris)
Hoy os quiero enseñar los regalitos que llevamos a los que nos alojaron en sus casa en nuestra visita a Versalles. Ya decía mi madre de "bien nacido es ser agradecido".

As I told you last week, we have been in Paris visiting friends, (Versailles, Paris). Today I want to show you the present we brought to them. 

Para la pareja sin niños, que ella valora mucho el "hecho a mano", es una artista haciendo cosas con felpa, le hice un pañuelo. Súper fácil y ya tengo el encargo para hacer otro.

For the couple living in Versalles, I did something "hand made". I know she really loves these things, she is an artist with plush. I did a scarf. It is very easy and it is very nice and I have an order to do another one.

Necesitas / You need:

La tela que mas te guste, que no sea demasiado tiesa. Yo compré 1,40 metros al final corté un poco, que se me hacía muy grande, así que yo creo que con 1 metro tienes de sobra. (normalmente son por 1,20 de ancho).
Para darle un poco de gracia, compré una tira con pompones pequeñitos, ya viene la tira para coser. Yo compré 3 metros.

The fabric you like. Not very stiff. I bought 1,40 meters, but at the end I cut a little bit, so with 1 metro you will have enough. (The regular fabric has 1,20 meters width).

Tutorial / To do it:

Haces un dobladillo, lo mas pequeño que puedas, pero doble para que se te quede el final de la tela por dentro de la doblez. Lo puedes hilvanar o ir poniendo alfileres. Yo soy la reina de los alfileres...
Yo planchas para que cuando lo pases por la máquina se quede todo en su sitio.

First you need to turn up, as small as you can. But you need to do doble to put inside the end of the fabric. You can put pins or baste it. I prefer the pins...You iron it to fix the turn up. 

En dos de los lados, al dobladillo le añadí la tira con los pompones. Más alfileres y a la máquina.
In two of the sides of the scarf, I add a strip with small pompons, I fix it with more pins. It it ready to sew in the machine. 

Listo para poner. Me parece que es un regalo muy chulo y personal para cualquier amiga, así que ya sabéis animaros a coser.
Now is ready to use. I think it's a nice present for a friend, very personal. And I hope they are going to love it.

My last creation: Liberty dresses for my girls

Como os enseñé por Instagram hace un par de semanas (http://instagram.com/p/lQPf-wKQzK/) me recorrí mis calles de telas en busca de material para hacer cositas de verano para las enanas.
Liberty, me encantan estas telas, es verdad que no son baratas, pero todo lo que haces con ellas queda bonito.

As I showed you by Instagram  a few weeks ago (http://instagram.com/p/lQPf-wKQzK/), I went to buy fabric to do dresses for summer.
Liberty, I love this fabric, it is not very cheap, but everything you do with it is nice.

Yo las compro en Old Brompton Road en una tienda que tiene de todo, pero la planta de abajo es toda con telas de Liberty. Tiene de esta temporada y anteriores un poco mas barata. Os la recomiendo porque tiene mucha variedad, os dejo la web: http://www.shaukat.co.uk

I bought it in a shop in Old Brompton Road where they have a lot of fabric. The ground floor is all about Liberty and you can find the fabric for this year or years before more cheaper. I recommend it to you because you will find a lot of fabric to choose, the web is: http://www.shaukat.co.uk

Con la azul les he hecho unas faldas que están preciosas. Muy fáciles de hacer, con cinturilla y botón o cremallera, como mas fácil te resulte y juntarlo a un triángulo con el ancho que quieras tener en la falda.
With the blue one I did nice skirts. Super easy to do it, you only need to do the waist and put a bottom or a zip and add it to a rectangle with the width you want to have the skirt:

Para hacer el vestido mi hermana, también costurera, me dejó una revista con patrones, "Espejito espejito". La verdad es que no es nada mi estilo, pero al final tiene patrones clásicos que están muy bien. A veces hay que echar mucha imaginación...

To do the dresses, my sister lend me a magazine with patrons, " Espejito espejito", it's not my style but at the end you can find nice classic patrons.

Elegí un vestido con pliegues delante, para que le diera un poco de gracia al vestido, (en que momento se me ocurrió elegir los pliegues..yo lo veo y digo ah eso tiene que ser fácil, pues no, siempre es mas complicado de lo que parece), pero la verdad que estoy muy contenta como ha quedado el vestido.

I have choose a dress folded at the front, to have something in the dress ( I though it will be easy just to have folders on the front....but at the end never is as easy as you think at the beginning). It is true that I am very happy with my dress 

Mi teoría es que si no eres una experta costurera, mi caso, pues por lo menos le pones una tela bonita, en este caso Liberty y siempre te va a quedar bonito, aunque las costuras no hayan quedado perfectas...
My theory is if you are not a sew expert, as me, if you have nice fabric as Liberty's, you probably can do something nice with it,  even if the seam doesn't look perfect..

Una semana cosiendo /Sewing class

Después de una semana muy intensa, como prometí aqui llegan mis avances de costura.
After a week working, as I promised, here you have my sewing advances.

Antes que nada mis consejos para principiantes como yo, de verdad empezad por cosas muy sencillas porque aunque veáis una cosa monísima que parece súper fácil, siempre es mas complicado de lo que parece. Yo me he lanzado a hacer una camisa monísima, muy sencilla (eso creía yo) y menos mal que ha venido aquí  la profesional de la costura, sino no se que habría sido de ella....

Before all, my advise to beginners like me. Try to begin with very simple things. Because although you see something very nice and it looks very easy, normally is more complicated than you expect. I began with a girl shirt, it looks very easy and nice, but not. Lucky for me the sewing master has been here and she has helped me a lot, if not I don't know how I would have finished the shirt..

No compreis las telas mas caras. A quien no le gustan las telas de Liberty? Con esas florecitas tan monas y que les quedan tan bien a las niñas. Luego duele mucho destrozarlas....También hay telas muy monas mucho mas baratitas....

You don't need expensive fabric to begin. But who doesn't like the fabrics of Liberty? With those flowers that look very nice in the girls...But if you ruin them it's hard to stand... And you can find very nice cheap fabrics .

Hay que practicar mucho y echarle bastante tiempo. No te puedes poner un ratito por la noche, desplegar todos los medios, para al final estar 1 horita, que debería cundir mucho, pero cómo hay que medirlo todo y remedirlo, casi ya se te ha ido el tiempo y no has avanzado nada. Y de la máquina no hablamos por la noche.. Así que hay que tener tiempo de verdad para que cunda.

You need to practice a lot and you will need a lot of time to do it. You cannot spend a short period of time at night, spread out all the things you need, measure everything, remeasure, the time is gone and you don't have nothing, and in my case I cannot use the sewing machine, so you need really time to dedicate to sew...

Dicho esto, no quiero desanimar a nadie. Que ya se que muchas os habéis comprado máquinas o pensado ir a un curso de costura. Yo os animo a seguir¡¡. Creo que con un poco de experiencia se pueden hacer cosas muy chulas y originales. Pero paciencia.

Having said that, I don't want to discourage nobody. I know that you bought a sewing machine or you are thinking to begin a sewing class, I really encourage to do it. I think you can do a lot of very nice and original things. You only need patience.

Aprendiendo a coser / Sewing...

Entre otras muchas cosas, aquí en Londres estoy desarrollando una vena creativa que nunca pensé que tenía. Además de mi blog, que lo cuido todo lo que puedo, ahora me ha dado por coser.

Since I am here in London I am developing my creativity, that I didn't know I had.
Besides my blog that I am trying to do my best, now I have begun to sew.

En mi casa, mi madre siempre ha cosido mucho y muy bien. Claro que recuerdo cuando era pequeña que odiaba que estuviera todo el día midiéndome, ahora yo se lo hago a mis hijas a todas horas....
Nos hacía un montón de vestidos, que algunos estamos usando ahora mi hermana y yo para nuestras hijas, me encantan¡¡

When I was young, my mother was always sewing. She did incredible dresses for me and my sister. I remember that when I was child I hated when my mother was all the day taking measures of us..Now I am doing the same with my girls...

Total, que me he decidido a empezar. Los comienzos nunca son fáciles. He de decir que tengo una profesora excepcional que es la que mas me ha animado a hacerlo y me da clases maestras con 4 niñas corriendo a nuestro alrededor y con un calor horrible, gracias¡¡¡

So, I have decided to begin to sew. I know that beginnings are never easy, but I have a outstanding teacher. She encouraged me to begin to sew. She always told me that it was very easy.. I'm  having master classes with 4 girls running around and with this hot weather, so not very easy for us...but thank you¡¡¡

Te levantas un dia y decides que quieres aprender a hacer vestidos y faldas, no puede ser tan complicado. Te vas a John Lewis (para mi El corte Ingles) y le explicas a la señorita que quieres la máquina mas sencilla y mas barata para aprender a coser lo mas simple del mundo. Por supuesto, me dejo aconsejar y ya tengo mi máquina¡¡¡

When you wake up one morning decided to begin to sew skirts and dresses for the girls, you think it will be easy. I went to John Lewis and I explained to the expertise woman that I wanted to buy the more simple sewing machine. Of course, I listened to their advise, and finally I have my machine¡¡¡

Después te pasas por la sección de accesorios, un mundo por descubrir. Tijeras de mil formas, millones de cacharros que no se ni para que sirven, rotuladores, marcadores, reglas, elásticos, alfileres,. hilos..bueno un montón de cosas que no sabes si van a ser muy útiles o no, pero todo es empezar.

After that, you go to the sewing accessories section, a new world to discover. I don't know how many different scissors, fabric pens, rules, elastic, pins...a lot of things that you don't know exactly their use, but probably are very useful.

Salgo de la tienda con mi máquina y con una bolsa llena de accesorios, tan contenta para mi casa.

I went out with my sewing machine and a bag full of these things.

Ahora me faltan las telas¡¡¡ Otro mundo... He ido a ver telas, no se cuantas veces, pero me encantan todas y claro hay que elegir. No se cuanto tengo que comprar, ni si las telas sirven para lo que yo quiero hacer, pero bueno, al final me hago con unas cuantas, para probar...

Now I need the fabrics. Another world.. I have gone to check the fabrics a lot of times, I loved all but of course it is not easy to choose. And another problem, how many meters do you need to buy to do a skirt? No idea. But finally I bought my fabrics. I love Liberty Fabrics...
