Tips of Ibiza (with kids)

Como todos los años hemos pasado parte del verano en Ibiza, hemos ido a otros paraísos que ya os contaré en otro post, pero para empezar Ibiza no está mal.

As every year we went to Ibiza in the summer. We have been to other paradises, but that I will tell you in another post.

Es verdad que para nosotros es muy fácil, los abuelos viven allí, pero animo a todo el mundo a ir a Ibiza con los niños. Ibiza es mucho mas que fiesta y desfase, que también. Es una isla con un tamaño perfecto para moverte y visitar toda la isla. Tiene unas playas espectaculares y unos sitios para comer riquísimos, que mas se puede pedir??

It's true that for us is very easy, the grandpas live in Ibiza, but I encourage everybody to go to Ibiza with kids. Really it is a Family Friendly island. Ibiza is much more than parties. It is an island with a perfect size to move and visit all the island. It has incredible beaches and amazing restaurants, what more can you ask for?

Hotel Can Domo

Hay muchas zonas diferentes en Ibiza pero la que mas me gusta, también porque es la que mejor conozco es Santa Eulalia. Es la segunda ciudad mas grande, es decir tienes de todo lo que necesitas, pero es un espacio muy manejable. Tiene un paseo por la playa y por el puerto que está muy bien para los niños. Un montón de restaurantes y cafeterias. Para dormir, a mi lo que mas me gusta son los hoteles de agro-turismo, son pequeñitos, generalmente en medio de la nada y los hay "family friendly". Por supuesto también hay hoteles normales en la ciudad o cerca de cualquier cala, pero creo que los rurales tienen mucho encanto.

To sleep, you can choose different areas in Ibiza, but for me the best to stay with kids is Santa Eulalia, in the north east. It is the thrid biggest city in the Island, you can find everything you can need in a manageable area. It has a very nice walk around the beach and the port. It has also a lot of restaurants, shops and coffee shops. To sleep, I prefer the rustic hotels in the surroundings of Santa Eulalia. They normally are small hotels in the countryside and of course there are "Family friendly" ones. Of course you can find beautiful hotels in the city or in the beach. But for me, the rustic ones are more lovely places.

Playas/ Beach:

Cala Conte

Playa Salinas

La mejor sin duda es Playa de Salinas, es una playa abierta, muy larga, con el agua cristalina y perfecta para los niños porque tarda mucho en cubrir, así que se lo pasan genial. Es la playa de los chiringuitos con famosos, así que otro entretenimiento mas.

En la zona de San José, hay un montón de calas todas preciosas, mi favorita es Cala Conte, pero cualquiera de las de alrededor son preciosas. Estas son calas pequeñitas con agua espectacular.

En el Noreste, cerca de Santa Eulalia, está Cala Nova. Una playa también muy larga, con chiringuitos muy chulos y que también tarda en cubrir. Al lado está Cala Leña, también una cala muy bonita y muy agradable para los niños.

En el Norte está Aguas Blancas, esta era una playa nudista, reconvertida por el turismo, es preciosa pero no la recomiendo con niños, tiene una cuesta horrible¡¡¡

También en el norte, está Playa San Vicente, una playa estupenda para los niños, bastante grande y con un restaurante muy recomendable (ver restaurantes).

En el Oeste, Playa Benirrás, famosa porque tocan los tambores con la luna llena. Es una playa muy bonita pero de piedras. Hay que ir bien equipados.

The best beach is "Salinas beach". It is a open beach, very long and with amazing clear water. It is perfect because they have a lot of space in the water without covering themselves, so they enjoy it a lot. It is also known because it is the beach with the most "famous" bars.

In San José area, in the east, you can find a lot of a small beaches. For me the best in the area is Cala Comte, but all around are amazing.

In the North East, close to Santa Eulalia, is Cala Nova. A long open beach, with beach bars and very nice and funny for the kids. 

In the north is Aguas Blancas. It was a nudist beach, but now it has been transformed by the turism. It is very nice, but I don´t recommend it with kids, it has a terrible slope to get to the beach¡¡

Also in the north, it is Playa San Vicente, it´s a wonderful beach for the kids, it is big and with a very good restaurant. But it is not the nicest.

In the west, is Playa Benirrás. It is famous because they play the drums when there is full moon. It is a very nice beach, but it has stones so you need to go full equip. 

Para comer / To eat:

Sa Punta Restaurant

A parte de los chiringuitos de las playas, es muy común ir a comer a restaurantes que están en mitad de la carretera y en verano siempre hay que reservar¡¡

Sa Caleta, está muy cerca de la playa de Salinas. Está abierto todo el año y dan de comer muy bien a cualquier hora. Están buenos los arroces y buenísimos los pescados.

Can Gat, Playa San Vicente. El restaurante no es muy bonito, pero se come fenomenal. Si te gusta la caldereta de langosta, este es tu sitio.

Es Caliu, en la carretera de San Juan a Ibiza. Es un restaurante basicamente de carne. Es muy grande, son muy amables y se come muy bien. Que rica la ensalada payesa y la carne a la brasa...

Balafi, Está siempre lleno, está en la carretera de San Juan a Ibiza. Es un restaurante como en un patio muy bonito. Tienen carne a la brasa, las mejores patatas fritas y ensalada de tomate. Muy rico. No aceptan tarjetas y solo abren para cenas.

El Chiringuito, en la playa de Es Cavallet, al lado de Salinas.  Es un sitio muy de moda, nosotros no hemos ido pero está súper recomendado.

Can Alfredo, es el restaurante mas clásico de la Isla. Siempre dicen que tiene las mejores paellas. Está en Ibiza ciudad. Es un restaurante pequeñito. Yo diría para ir fuera de temporada, es cerrado sin terraza.

Sa Punta, está en Talamanca, justo en frente de Dalt Vila. Tiene unas vistas increíbles, muy recomendable al atardecer. Tiene en la planta de arriba una terraza chill out con DJ que es impresionante. El restaurante es muy bonito y la comida muy rica. Para mi es el restaurante mas "chic" de la isla.

Besides the "beach restaurants", it is very common to go to eat to restaurants in the middle of nowhere. And in summer you need always to book in advance¡¡

Sa Caleta, it is very close to Salina´s beach. It is a restaurant open all the year and you can eat very well at good price. The rices are amazing and also the fish.

Can Gat, located in Playa San Vicente. The restaurant is not very nice, but you eats very well. If you like the lobster stew, this is your place. Rices are also good.

Es Caliu, in the road of San Juan to Ibiza. It is a meat restaurant. It is a big place, very friendly and with very good quality. You need to taste the "Payesa salad" and grilled meat.

Balafi, It is also in the road of San Juan to Ibiza. It is always full. The restaurant it is in a very nice garden. They have grilled meat and the best fried potatoes and the best tomato salad in the island. They don´t accept credit card and it is only open for dinners.

El Chiringuito, is in Es Cavallet beach, close to Salinas. It is a cool place. We haven't been there but it is very recommended.

Can Alfredo, it is the classical paella restaurant. It is located in Ibiza city. It is a small classical restaurant. I think it is more for winter because it doesn't have terrace. 

Sa Punta is located in Talamanca, in front of Ibiza city. This restaurant is "a must". The location is incredible, you can see the old town of Ibiza in front of you. The restaurant is very nice, they have in the top floor a bar with a DJ and cocktails. The food is amazing too. For me is the most "chic"restaurant in the island.


Para visitar /To visit:

Dalt Vila

Ibiza capital, el centro antiguo de Ibiza "Dalt Vila", conjunto histórico Patrimonio de la Humanidad, es un paseo precioso con unas vistas espectaculares de la Isla.

Puerto de Ibiza, el "puerto viejo", está lleno de callejones con un montón de tiendas y pequeños restaurantes, por la noche es perfecto para ir a tomar la primera copa y ver el ambiente de las discotecas que se pasean anunciando sus fiestas.

Santa Gertrudis, está en el interior de la Isla. Es un pueblecito peatonal precioso, con un parque de niños que está muy bien y con un montón de pequeños restaurantes donde es típico tomar pan con tomate y embutidos.

Mercadillo de Las Dalias, es "El mercadillo". Está cerca de San Carlos, es los sábados todo el día. Es enorme, puedes encontrar de todo para todos, todo artesanal,  eso si está muy lleno, pero aún así merece la pena una visita con mucha paciencia. No muy recomendable para ir con niños y sillitas, por la cantidad de gente que hay.

Ver el atardecer, está el famoso Cafe del Mar, está en San Antonio (lo único bueno que tiene esa zona), es espectacular el sitio en el que está, pero es un poco caro de mas. Pero merece la pena aunque sea sentarse en las piedras a verlo. Otro sitio precioso, es la playa Es Vedrá (zona de San Jose), también tiene mucho ambiente y es precioso.

Ibiza city with their old town called "Dalt Vila". It is a historical complex. It is a very nice walk with  fabulous views.

Port of Ibiza, "the old port". It is an area below Dalt Vila with beautiful passages with a lot of shops and restaurants. In the night, it is perfect to go there to see the atmosphere and take the first drink.

Santa Gertrudis, is a small town in the countryside. It is a pedestrian town with a big playground and with a lot of restaurants to eat bread with tomato and cold meat.

Dalias Market. This is the "market". It is located close to San Carlos, it´s on saturday, all day, and normally it is very crowded. It is very big, with a lot of stands with hand made clothes and complements. It is not very recommended with kids and prams, it is really very crowded.

The dusk, it is amazing. The most famous place is Cafe del Mar in San Antonio ( it is the only place to go in San Antonio). It is located in a amazing location, with a DJ and a lot of people. It is very expensive, but you can go and seat in the stones to see the dusk. Another place to see the dusk is at Playa de Es Vedrá (San Jose surroundings). It´s a place with a lot of charming and the views are also fabulous. 

Para salir / The night

La noche en Ibiza es infinita. Si quieres tomar una copa tranquilamente para ver el ambiente de la Isla, ve al puerto viejo. Es un espectáculo, las discotecas pasan anunciando la temática de las fiestas. Hay gente para todos los gustos y colores. Es muy entretenido.
Por supuesto, las discotecas. Hay muchas cada una con fiestas distintas cada noche, Pacha, Amnesia, Privilege...Entrar cuesta como 50 euros. La verdad es que son un espectaculo. Si te gusta bailar, no te lo pierdas. También está Lio, la novedad de Ibiza. Yo no he estado, pero es una especie de Cabaret donde la gente en general cena y luego se quedan tomando copas. Si quieres mucha fiesta, en Playa Dan Bossa está el Hotel- Discoteca Ushuaia. Todo el hotel es discoteca. Debe ser una locura, pero tampoco he estado. La noche no es lo mío...

The night in Ibiza is infinite. If you want just have a drink and feel the atmosphere, you can go to the old port in Ibiza. In any of the terraces you can seat and wait for the show. All the big disco´s do a parade showing their thematical parties for the night. You can see a lot of different people, it is very funny. 
Of course, you have the big discos. The ticket is around 50 €, but they are really a show. If you like the night and dance, try it. Another night club to visit is Lio. It is like a cabaret where the people normally go for dinner and then stay for the show. If you want more party, you have The Ushuaia Hotel in Playa Dan Bossa. All the hotel is a disco.. Amazing, I´ve never been there...


Si además te puedes coger un barco e irte unos días a Formentera, tu verano será increible. Eso es otro post. ( y ya llevo 2 post mas prometidos..)

If you can take a boat and go a few days to Formentera, your summer will be incredible. But this is another post ( I promised to post more...)
